1931 Martin C-3 with Original Case and Picture!

Such an interesting 90-year old guitar with the history of when it was new. Comes with the original hardshell case (a great case for some VERY expensive Martins from the era). This is an extremely scarce model as it was more expensive than the OM-45's when new. In fact, this was the most expensive Martin made at the time. Expensive plus Depression-era adds up to rare. Only 46 round soundhole C-3's were ever made.

The guitar is in great-playing condition. The guitar sounds very strong and is one of the finer-sounding archtop Martins we've played. These are in a nice niche where it's part flattop, part archtop. The guitar has had some repairs in its 90 years. The fretboard looks to have been replaced at some point. There is one slight surface crack where you rest your arm but it is solid. There were a couple braces that were reglued recently. The finish is original but looks to have had some light overspray in a few spots on the top where there was wear. The tuners are all from the era but 3 are original to the guitar. The original bridge is included but it plays best with the lower profile bridge that's currently on it.

The guitar comes with a lovely photo of the family daughter group which featured this very Martin C-3. You just don't find this kind of provenance these days so it really adds to the interest in the instrument. The guitar was certainly played in its 90 years but still works great and could go for 90 more! Someone will get a very unique guitar that hardly exist anymore.
