1959 Gibson Country & Western Vintage Acoustic Dreadnought SJ-N Southern Jumbo Natural Slope Shoulder!
Here is a really nice and fairly clean 1959 Gibson Country & Western, also known as the Southern Jumbo Natural or SJ-N. Made in that magical year for Gibson, 1959, this is a nice, honest, and largely original example with less wear than you normally see on one of these nearly 70-year-old Gibson acoustics.
We'd call this one Very Good overall. There is some fairly heavy finish checking across the top, but it presents really well and has that honest vintage appearance that we love to see. There has been absolutely no refinishing, and aside from an added jack in the usual location, there are no modifications to speak of. It was clearly electrified at some point in its life, but otherwise remains exceptionally original.
Structurally, there is only one crack on the entire guitar, and it is the familiar pickguard crack along the treble side of the fingerboard extension. Other than that, this is a very clean and honest guitar with no other cracks to report.
The original single-line Kluson tuners are all present and working great, complete with their original buttons. The original big Gibson frets show some wear and light divoting but still have plenty of life and the guitar plays very well overall.
The neck has a really nice rounded C shape with a definite 1950s Gibson feel, measuring 0.90" at the first fret and 1.01" at the 10th fret. The nut width is 1.69", making this a very comfortable-feeling neck without being overly narrow.
Playability is quite good, with action measuring 6/64" at the 12th fret on the low E and 4/64" on the high E. That's a very nice setup for a vintage Gibson flat top, and despite the wear on the original frets, this one is ready to be played and enjoyed.
It comes with a newer hardshell case, as shown.

Playability & Sound
This is a great-playing example of a late-'50s Gibson flat top. The neck has that substantial, rounded C profile that gives it a distinctly 1950s feel, and it feels very comfortable in the hand.
The original frets do show some wear and light divots, but the guitar still plays well with very nice action. It measures 6/64" on the low E and 4/64" on the high E at the 12th fret, which makes this a very playable vintage acoustic.
The Country & Western / Southern Jumbo design gives these guitars a wonderfully big, woody, open Gibson acoustic voice, and this one has the kind of character and honest vintage response you'd hope for from a 1959 Gibson.
