1968 Gibson ES-335 Stereo Varitone Custom Order in Walnut! Vintage Electric Guitar!
Very cool 1960s Gibson ES-335 that’s firmly in player-grade territory and a great sounding guitar. No breaks, and all of the important parts are intact and original, including the Patent Number humbucker pickups.
This one is especially interesting as it appears to have been factory ordered with the stereo Varitone setup, which is something you don’t see every day on an ES-335. The guitar was originally Sparkling Burgundy and was later professionally refinished in Walnut. The work is very well done and looks right. We can’t say for certain whether the refinish was done at Gibson or later, but it was done properly.
The stereo output has since been converted for mono use, while still retaining the different tonal options via the Varitone switch, so you get the best of both worlds: easy usability with added tonal flexibility.
Plays well, sounds great, and has tons of character. Comes with a nice hardshell case. A very cool vintage Gibson ES-335 for the player who wants something different without paying collector-grade money.
Weight: 8.4 lbs.
