1983 Gibson Custom Shop Edition ES-335 Dot Reissue QUILT FLAME!
Here is a very clean Gibson Custom Shop Edition 1983 ES-335 Dot Reissue, finished in a rich sunburst with some especially attractive flame and figuring for this period.
This is one of the early “Custom Shop Edition” era instruments that has become increasingly sought after by both collectors and players, representing an important transitional point in Gibson’s reissue history.
The top has a warm, rich sunburst color with excellent depth, and the figuring shows a very appealing vintage-style character that really stands out compared to many examples from the same period.
Condition is exceptionally clean overall, with no significant wear to report. There are only light pick scratches and a few minor finish checks, keeping it comfortably on the higher end of condition for these early reissues.
It remains a very honest and well-preserved example, and presents extremely well visually.
Under the hood, it features the desirable Tim Shaw humbuckers, a key spec that continues to drive interest in these guitars thanks to their warm, open, and very PAF-inspired tone.
At 8.4 lbs, it has a solid, resonant feel typical of a well-built semi-hollow, with good balance and sustain.
It comes with a slightly newer Gibson hardshell case, fitted appropriately and fully functional.
Tonally, these early ES-335 Dot Reissues are known for a smooth, airy semi-hollow voice with excellent clarity and dynamic response, and this example delivers exactly that—open, articulate, and very musical both clean and driven.
