1986 Gibson Les Paul Standard RARE 2-Piece FLAMETOP Cherry Sunburst UNIQUE!

Here is a really unique 1986 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Cherry Sunburst, including the back, neck, sides, and headstock. This is more like the finishes Gibson was doing a little earlier in the decade, which makes this a particularly interesting guitar for the period.

The really standout feature is the beautiful two-piece center-seam curly maple flame top. The figure is outstanding, and you just don't see many Les Paul Standards from this era with a top like this. It's a pretty unusual piece overall. The top is STUNNING!

Condition is Very Good Plus, with just some minor buckle marks on the back and a few stray dings and scratches on the top. Overall, it's a very clean and presentable guitar.

The guitar has been fully rewired, with the pots, switch, and capacitors all replaced. The neck pickup is a Gibson Patent Number embossed humbucker, while the bridge pickup is a Gibson "Tarback" humbucker. The neck pickup is likely original, but the bridge pickup is older Gibson.

Several other parts have also been changed, including the low E tuner, jack plate, knobs, and strap buttons. The rest of the hardware appears original.

It plays very well and has a nice comfortable neck measuring 0.83" at the first fret and 0.96" at the 12th fret, with the standard 1-11/16" nut width. At just 9.0 lbs., it is also a very comfortable weight.

It comes complete with the original Gibson hardshell case, as shown.

Playability & Sound

This one plays really well with a comfortable, substantial neck that measures 0.83" at the first fret and 0.96" at the 12th fret.

The Gibson Patent Number neck pickup and Tarback bridge pickup give this one a very interesting combination of tones, with the pickups measuring 7.2k ohms at the neck and 5.0k ohms at the bridge.

At 9.0 lbs., it has a very comfortable overall feel for a Les Paul.
