2024 Gibson Custom Shop LIMITED EDITION Tom Murphy Lab BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Dark Burst Aged!

Here is an absolutely killer LIGHTWEIGHT '59 Les Paul from Gibson's special Tom Murphy Lab Limited Edition Brazilian Rosewood run from 2023–2024. These are about as high-end as you can get in a modern Gibson Les Paul reissue, and it's hard to imagine Gibson improving on this combination of specs. In fact, Gibson is calling this "Gibson Custom Tom Murphy's Magnum Opus."

This one is 100% original and in Very Good Plus condition, with plenty of factory aging and heavy finish checking, just as these guitars came from the Murphy Lab. The finish on these is extremely thin and has some natural flakiness to it, which is part of the look of this particular run.

This example features the desirable Dark Burst finish with stop tailpiece and a beautiful figured maple top that goes from highly figured to more subdued depending on the angle, just like you see on the real vintage Bursts.

It also has a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, lightweight mahogany body, hand-selected AAAA figured maple top, Custombucker pickups, and the 50s Rounded Medium C neck profile. At just 7.8 lbs., this is an exceptionally comfortable Les Paul.

The guitar is a joy to play and sounds huge. There's something really special going on with the response and overall character of this one.

It comes complete with the original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, leather-bound COA, and all original paperwork, as shown.

Playability & Sound

This is a really special-playing Les Paul with a comfortable 50s Rounded Medium C neck and excellent balance.

The neck measures 0.90" at the first fret and 1.01" at the 12th fret, with the classic 1-11/16" nut width.

The guitar has a huge, lively voice and sounds excellent through an amp. At 7.8 lbs., it is also an exceptionally comfortable weight for a Les Paul.
