Here is one of the standout modern Collings models, the 470 JL Julian Lage, a beautifully executed signature model that consistently impresses players and collectors alike.
This example features a very appealing antiqued sunburst finish paired with a factory fixed tailpiece, giving it a refined vintage-inspired aesthetic right out of the case. As expected from this model, it is loaded with top-tier components including Ron Ellis pickups, an ABR-1 bridge, Waverly tuners, an ebony fingerboard, and a tortoise pickguard, all built with the exceptional attention to detail that defines Collings.
Tonally and conceptually, this guitar feels like a modern interpretation of a high-end vintage Gretsch Duo Jet, but with improved refinement, stability, and consistency. It has a very open, resonant acoustic response, and when plugged in it delivers a rich, articulate, and highly musical tone that really sets it apart.
