Here is a very special MTD Michael Tobias Designs TN 535-24 five-string bass from Kingston, New York. This is the rare neck-through version, and you just don't find too many MTD basses built this way.
The construction is fantastic, with a solid Wenge neck and fingerboard, Swamp Ash body wings, and an exhibition-grade Spalted Maple top. The spalted maple is absolutely beautiful and has incredible figure and character.
It also features the Buzz Feiten tuning system, zero fret, and two large Bartolini pickups, which sound phenomenal. The bass is hand-signed by Michael Tobias and appears to be 100% original.
Condition is Near Mint, with virtually no wear to speak of. This is truly a collector-grade example, but it's also an excellent-playing and great-sounding bass that is meant to be enjoyed.
The neck measures 0.82" at the first fret and 0.95" at the 12th fret, with a 1.80" nut width. At 10 lbs. 2 oz., it has a substantial feel and the build quality you'd expect from a high-end MTD.
It comes complete with the original brown MTD hardshell case, as shown.

Playability & Sound
This is an excellent-playing five-string bass with a comfortable neck and outstanding overall feel. The neck-through construction and Wenge neck give it a very solid, resonant feel.
The Bartolini pickups sound phenomenal, with plenty of clarity, punch, and depth. This is a bass that really delivers both acoustically and plugged in.
